Climb a mountain!

The CrossFit Jackson Adventure Team is planning a mountain climbing expedition to Mount Shasta, California this summer!

Majestic and solitary, Mount Shasta is the undisputed monarch of northern California. Cloaked in glaciers and boasting epic displays of lenticular cloud formations, this stratovolcano is one of the grandest summits in the American West. It is the second highest peak in the Cascade Range at 14,179 feet above sea-level and is surpassed only by Mount Rainier which is just 249 feet taller.

The CFJ A-team is currently in the planning stages of the trip with Shasta Mountain Guides ( The trip will be a four days/three nights on the mountain, expedition style trip designed to teach you basic mountaineering skills and acclimate you to the altitude so you have the best chance of reaching the summit (only a third of those attempting succeed).

Expected costs at this time are $750 for the guided trip, airfare ($~400 currently), and miscellaneous expenses of $300. Additional expenses may involve personal gear as needed. Rentals are available for some items.
